Anders newest blog

Hello again my loyal fans.
Today’s blog is going too be a special one. My group and I were recently one our most adventurous expedition yet. We have just arrived home from a glorious vacation in the blazing sun of Costa Rica.
This blog is going to be telling you all about all of the amazing new experiences and amazing views that we saw along the way.
The activities that we participated in were very different each time, almost a world apart. We went from horse riding on the ground, to flying over the canopies like birds flying in the air. We were hiking in ravines, and dropping off of rope swings into beautiful clear water.
Each activity was amazing, and different. Each had its highs and lows, though mostly highs.
While we were doing many of our activities, there were special moments that I will never forget. Some of these are:

My first highlight of this expedition was when we were horse back riding. We were riding our mounts by the base of an active volcano. This is now a little scary; because the volcano was due to erupt any day. Pretty scary right! Well, we were riding along, and my horse was starting to lag behind, so I gave it a little nudge with my heels to prod it along. Without warning, my horse bolts for the other group at a full out sprint. I couldn’t say that I had ever been more surprised in my life. I was pretty sure that I would just have a heart attack and fall off my horse, but of course that didn’t happen because I am typing this to you right now.
Another really interesting story was when I was swimming, and attempting to surf. Sure I have surfed before, but I could never get up on the board and stay on it. I swear that the board that I was using had it in for me, because on one particularly large wave, I attempted to get up only to have my board slide out from under me and rap me on the shins. After getting out of the water to inspect the area that was smacked by the board, had the beginning of a nice bruise forming.

These were the two most fantastic stories from our trip I feel.
Besides the really cool activities that we participated in, the feeling of being in a foreign country, and not knowing all of the proper customs, was really interesting. I felt like I didn’t belong there, but also did at the same time. You could almost compare it to a guy who accidently walked into the woman’s bathroom.
My most favorite aspect of Costa Rica was the system in which it used to trade, and sell goods. The system they use is called bartering. This means that a seller of goods is allowed to make his own price, and change it however he feels. This then allows the buyer to try and haggle for a lower price. I personally along with most of our group felt that we were pretty good at haggling, even thought I bet that we still overpaid them.

Well this is the end of this blog; stay tuned for next week’s blog,

Anders Deboom
